Nurse Saves Twins

It’s always good to hear a success story.  Hopefully this will plant a good seed for us to remember how important it is to move from our head-space back into to our hearts and understand the birth process is the most important time to create a solid foundation for the rest of our children’s lives.

It’s quite apparent how different of a time the 1990s was compared to now. Regardless, premature babies being born has always been a thing.  Kyrie and Brielle Jackson were twins that were born 12 weeks early in Worcestor, Massachusetts.  Since they were born so early, the girls were very tiny and required some extra attention.  No one that was in the twin’s lives could have ever imagined what they would go through in the early weeks of their lives on Earth.

Kyrie appeared to be doing well. Even though she only weighed a little over two pounds, she was eating quite a bit and gaining weight like she was supposed to.  Unfortunately, Brielle seemed to be having a harder time than her sister.  She was having a difficult time breathing and wasn’t gaining any weight.  Even though sometimes she was doing “okay,” her parents and her doctors were hoping she would make a turn for the better. Soon enough, they had to face reality.

Like most babies that are born early or underweight, the newborns were put into incubators.  The twin girls were put into two separate incubators, and spent most of their time away from each other.  Even when they are older, most twins don’t like being away from their sibling.  As hard as it was to remain positive, the Jacksons knew that they had to, even if the unthinkable were to happen.  And the unthinkable did happen, but not in the way you’d expect.

The twins made it to three weeks old and everything seemed to be going okay. As each day passed, Paul Jackson, and his wife, thought they were closer to bringing their girls home. “The nurses in the NICU were very honest.  And they told me up front that ‘things look pretty good now, but, to be honest with you, over the next 48 to 72 hours, things could turn very quickly,’” said Brielle and Kyrie’s dad, Paul Jackson.  What happened next was the scariest moment of their lives.

Everything happened so quickly. Brielle’s breathing became labored, and within seconds, her heart rate increased.  Her heart was beating entirely way too fast for an infant.  Her oxygen level dropped too quickly, and her parents began to fear the worst.  In moments like these, people tend to hope and pray for a miracle to occur.  Having one of their children in distress, made the Jacksons feel completely helpless. Unfortunately, things continued to get worse.

Because her oxygen levels had drastically dropped, Brielle began to turn blue. This is obviously a bad sign for anybody, but it’s especially troubling when it’s a baby.  A lack of oxygen can cause brain damage, and it can cause other organs in the body to shut down, as well.  Not having sufficient oxygen in their body can make a situation go from serious, to life-threatening, very quickly.  That’s what happened to little Brielle.

The doctors and nurses tried everything that they possibly could to get Brielle to breathe, but tiny Brielle continued to struggle for breath.  The oxygen the were giving simply wasn’t working.  Brielle just wasn’t responding to their treatment.  In this kind of situation, every second is crucial to survival.  They were quickly running out of time.  A NICU nurse, named Gayle Kasparaian, had an idea, so she decided to run with it.

What may have seemed crazy at the time, turned out to be an absolute moment of genius.  What Gayle Kasparaian decided to do hadn’t been proven to work, and had actually never been done in the United States.  If it had, no one had ever documented it. Gayle suggested putting Brielle in the incubator with her sister.  She thought that it was possible that the girls could help each other, and it couldn’t hurt to try.

The moment Brielle was placed next to her sister, something absolutely incredible happened.  Kyrie put her arm around her sister, as if she were giving her a hug.  Even though there was no way Kyrie even knew what a hug was.  Side-by-side the girls laid together on their bellies.  Everyone in the room looked on, hoping that the nurse’s “crazy” idea actually worked.  Only seconds had gone by when the Jacksons got the good news they were praying for.



Brielle had begun to breathe normally without assistance.  It appeared that the contact with her sister made her calm down enough to regulate her breathing.  It can honestly be said that Kyrie saved her sister’s life in that incubator.  Once she was put in the incubator, Brielle’s heart rate stabilized and her temperature went back to normal.  What actually happened in the incubator that save Brielle?  It’s actually something pretty simple.

Putting Kyrie and Brielle next to each is what saved Brielle.

“Kangaroo care refers to the act of placing your newborn on your chest – skin to skin.  It’s good for you and it’s good for baby.  Numerous studies have documented the benefits of kangaroo care.  They include improved heart rate, oxygen saturation, breathing, sleep, weight gain, breastfeeding and reduced crying,” reports Akron Children’s Hospital.

The twins connection ended up being their saving grace!


Doctors from all over the world believe that skin-to-skin contact is vital for newborns.  Moms and dads are told to hold their new babies on their bare chest, allowing for their child’s bodies to take in all of the benefits.

While this is exceptionally beneficial for premature babies, specialists in the neo-natal field agree that every newborn should have skin-to-skin time with their parents. “Research has also found positive associations with cognitive and motor skills, and psychosocial benefits, such as attachment and parental confidence,” Akron Children’s Hospital reports.

After their incredible ordeal, things for the Jacksons calmed down, and it was smooth sailing for then on out.  After some time passed, the Jacksons were able to take home their babies.  The girls grew up to become best friends.  When they were little, they didn’t know how important they were to each other, but once they were able to understand what they went through, their love grew even stronger.  The twin’s bond is just as incredible today! Wait until you see them now!

Seeing them today, you would never guess that they were born 12 weeks early.  Now that they are 23, they are doing better than okay.  Brielle and Kyrie are still extremely close, but that’s obviously not surprising.  The two of them are happy and healthy, and feel grateful to have each other.  There’s nothing like the love that comes from family, but there is something quite special about the bond between twins, and Brielle and Kyrie can tell you all about that.



The story of Brielle and Kyrie finds it way online every now and then.  Their experience was so heart-warming, so miraculous, that it’s the type of story that people enjoy hearing about.  The fact that the story has a happy ending definitely helps with that!

Long Breath Diet

Former Japanese actor Miki Ryosuke discovered the Long Breath Diet completely by accident.  With the help of his doctor, he was taught a breath-exercise solely to ease back pain.  However, he noticed as a side-effect that he was losing a lot of weight.


He eventually discovered that he lost 28 pounds and 5 inches in 50 days.  Realizing the potential of his discovery, Ryosuke came up with a series of more effective ways of breathing in and exhaling, and created the now famous Long Breath Diet.


The lymphatic system, unlike the circulatory system, has no pump to move lymph fluid.  So to move the fluid, a form of exercise that incorporates major muscle groups and deep breathing is needed to encourage lymph flow.

Encouraging lymph flow is not only necessary for health, it may also be a factor in alleviating various health conditions such as allergies, eczema and other skin conditions, infections, chronic sinusitis, inflammation, and edema.  Jill Johnson, founder of Oxycise diet, goes on to give us this inspiration to breathe deeply every day:

“Fat is made up of oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen.  When the oxygen we breathe reaches these fat molecules, it breaks them down into carbon dioxide and water.” — Jill Johnson

As I was researching this deeper, I found it interesting to understand how the autonomic nervous system works.  There are two systems at work: sympathetic nervous-system and the parasympathetic nervous-system.  They explain that people either breathe in one of two ways:  fight or flight or rest and digest.

Since we are conditioned by society in such a negative way, most of us unconsciously breathe in a shallow manner.  When the sympathetic nervous-system is predominant, most people breathe in a pattern that hinges on fear.  This leads to being acutely disconnected from our body and we may notice that we are living mostly in our heads.

Do we really want to live a constant state of tension or fear?

To reverse this and be more in a meditative state, day in and day out, we need to breathe consciously if we are to activate the parasympathetic nervous-system.  When we make the switch we are in the rest and digest process.  After a few days of this experiment, I noticed once I did three or four sets of this breathwork, I had a sense of subtle joy building up.  This was that good-to-be-alive feeling.  It was rather easy and effortless to be active and to participate in everyday, ordinary tasks without so much drudgery.

Most psychologists and meditation masters will tell you that shallow breathing is a habit of being in fear.  Therefore to reverse that, deep diaphragm breathing will move you into a state of rest and digest.


After doing some investigating. I discovered there are two forms to properly develop and practice the Long Breath Diet:

  1. Tighten the buttocks and place one foot in front of your body while placing 90% of your body weight on your back foot. Once you’re in position, breathe in for 3 seconds while lifting your arms above your head.  Then exhale contracting all the muscles in your body to help you get all the air out, for 7 seconds.

It sounds easy enough, but most of the air comes out in the first couple of seconds, leaving you to flex your abs as you run out of breath.

  1. The second method requires you to stand up straight and tighten the buttocks. Place one hand on your abdomen and another on your lower back, and breath in for 3 seconds while sucking in your midsection.  Finally, exhale for 7 seconds and suck in your stomach even more


As I did further research it is true that reverse-breathing helps build up Yang energy in the body that inhibits psychic influence.   For those that are more spiritually inclined, the more Yang energy that is built up inhibits the influence of negative spirits by about 80 percent.


“One more very important thing to remember: hungry ghosts can cause harm to you if your chi energy is low or depleted.  To counter this, you must wear amulets and ensure that there is an excess of yang energy and wear lots of bright colours.” — Grand Master Lillian Too

She goes on to say, “Yang chi, as you know, scares ghosts away because ghosts are yin.  That’s why they give you the willies and why you usually encounter them in the twilight (yin) hours, or at certain hours of the day when yin chi is strong.  When people are sick and dying, their chi is quite yin and that’s when they can start to see other spirits too.  It all has to do with chi communication.

Many people tell me they’re quite sensitive and hate going to hospitals.  Not just because of the smell of all those disinfectants, but because they just feel “ucky” due to all the yin chi.  It feels like their chi is drained every time they visit friends who are sick.”

Furthermore, this breathwork is NOT to be done continuously throughout the day.  It is best to set aside a few minutes (two or three times a day) when you can go into the privacy of your room and practice.  All you need to do is three or four sets.  As always, we want to do this on an empty stomach to perform this exercise in the safest way.

“I find reverse breathing a useful technique to use before meditation practice.  It is important that you never let this become your natural way to breathe.” — Daoist monk Zhou, Xuan-Yun

Zhou, Xuan-Yun goes on to gives us the following cautionary advice:  “Over-practice and incorrect practice of reverse breathing can lead to medical problems. I would not recommend anyone with high-blood pressure to practice reverse breathing.

While I am not a medical professional, I was taught that exerting too much downward pressure on the lower abdomen can cause hemorrhoids, and too much upward pressure on the stomach can contribute to acid reflux problems.”

NOTE:  It is important that any advanced breathing techniques be learned and practiced under the supervision of an experienced teacher or health care professional.


I have been experimenting with this form of breathwork for about three weeks.  With this unique variation of reverse breathing, I have only needed to eat one or two meals a day.  After 16 days of practice I lost six pounds.  That is one pound every three days!  Pretty impressive.  On the 19th day I no longer had nerve-pain that was common at the base of my neck.


The main benefit I find happening is a strengthening of the core (muscles around the stomach) and removing the damage and fatigue within the nervous system which eventually leads to increased stamina.  I have found that being mindful when the body slackens, that one or two breaths helps increase the time desired to be in meditative posture.

Toning the body with this unique method has literally doubled the amount of time I am normally in meditative position.  Also, with this daily practice it has helped me completely eliminate the urge to binge eat.  I believe the major benefits are enjoying more will-power (by toning the nerves) and the secondary benefits are weight control.  Hopefully, people will not get obsessed with weight-loss at all costs.  It is best to find our body’s natural rhythm and balance without going to extremes with this knowledge.

I noticed that by exhaling properly (by puffing the cheeks) is NOT to be omitted because it will release the tensions along the base of the neck (at C7/T1 vertebra).  The stomach and the top of the sternum are the two places where the major lymph nodes gather.  Interestingly enough, these are also the two places chiropractors make adjustments.   I believe that during these degenerate times something skillful like this is necessary to counteract our poor-condition and unhealthy eating-habits.

With constant practice…doing this breathwork, exactly as shown in the video, will circulate the lymph fluids and release the pent up nerve pressure.  By constant practice we can strengthen and tone the nerves alone the spinal column.

I noticed that some comments on YouTube, people were saying that they don’t have the energy or will power to even stand up.  That is quite common when we are in a constant lazy and lethargic state.  To counteract that tendency, I would recommend doing this in a seated position until you build up more natural self-power.  For best results you stand up and lean backwards for the full stretch to help strengthen the nervous system.

NOTE:  As always be safe when self-experimenting with breath work.  Don’t overdo it…and if something goes wrong, just stop.  If you feel spacey or have energy stuck in the head or back of your heart you must stop what you are doing.  The energy is going in the wrong direction.

TIP:  A good solution to know if you are spaced-out is to ask the question: What was I just doing?  If you can’t answer then you are obviously moving energy too high in the body and ungrounded.

Rebuilding with Minerals

As we move on our spiritual journey during these degenerate times, it takes a keen eye to decipher the most suitable way to live our lives.  Ideally, it is something that leads to a peaceful mind, a proper self-esteem and a genuine happiness.  Yet, it seems the more information we gather about good health, the farther we move from it.  More often than not, the right knowledge is lacking which continues to make us codependent.


An interesting fact worth noting from the DrPasswater website:

“Let me give you a very interesting statistic. In 1985, The New England Journal of Medicine published an article titled “Paleolithic Nutrition”. The authors, who had credentials as anthropologists specializing in the Paleolithic era, determined that, on average, our caveman forebears got around 11,000 mg of potassium daily and about 700 mg of sodium.” — Dr. Richard Moore

As we understand how our diet falls very short of the above ideal, this can be very discouraging especially after we calculate the daily intake of our potassium and sodium.  We know that the modern diet is filled with terrible processed foods, but many of us don’t realize how detrimental sodium can be.  Since birth, we have developed this bad habit, through no fault of our own.  And once this habitual tendency progresses into our teenage years it is often very rare for any of us to grab any fruits or vegetables to get the proper nutrients in our system.  I’ve noticed the destructive nature of our plight works in two distinct ways:

First, the lack of natural minerals in our diet becomes problematic for our skeletal, endocrine and nervous systems. Second, the addition of synthetic additives (such as MSG aka Natural Flavors) and other toxins leads to gain weight and feeling sluggish or lethargic. It’s no wonder the average person would totally give up on the task of losing weight and experiencing their natural health with is everyone’s birth right.

We could complain all day and night but that will really not change our condition.  So, whether we think this is a terrible thing that society has done to us is not the point.  We must rise about that.  A better way to look at it is this: Now we have an opportunity to gain more knowledge (of a correct and incorrect diet) and do something about it.  We are put on this earth, just at this time so that we can learn and perfect ourselves.  And we have a choice.  We can either spiral out of control and just live our lives with these terrible addictions & cravings or learn from our parents mistakes and help our children who are the next generation to live better.

In relation to food, these addictions come in two categories.  These are: salt-cravings and chocolate-addiction.  When we are young, it doesn’t really matter much to us.  We enjoy life in the moment.  However, as we get older we begin to see the detrimental side-effects of these devious and mindless bad habits.  No matter how delicious these foods are and no matter how necessary our mind tells us these little pleasures give us; there is a consequence to disregarding the laws of nature.

With weight-gain and depression more pronounced these days, wouldn’t it be nice to know the root cause of our problems and have an easy solution?

We have to begin somewhere.  On the physical level alone, there is a path to follow and a way to attack the problem.  Rather than sleeping for hours during the day time and hiding under the covers try gaining this knowledge.  Rather than getting your stomach stapled try this protocol.  Rather than getting liposuction try getting to the root cause for achieving essential health.

Dharma knowledge:

When studying the dharma in a serious way, we may be blessed to find some old and rare scriptural text.  These holy texts, translated into new and pristine books may come into our hand by the blessings of those  accomplished masters that have compassion for all sentient beings in this world that are lost and suffering.  We are then afforded an opportunity to be graced with certain knowledge that past masters whose spiritual discipline sheds light on our difficult situation.  The one simple and powerful truth, when really seen, is quite wonderful to behold.  Usually it’s something so simple that many will pass it up without discerning what benefits are within the tiny seed hidden within one line of text.

It has been passed down through the ages that there are special foods that a yogin eats while practicing austerities on the spiritual path.  To those that wish to benefit everyone equally, our bodies need nourishment to sustain ourselves till the end of the quest.  So, it would make sense to explain a little about which foods have the best nutrients.  I suspect, the key to health has already been categorized by the Indian or Tibetan sages as three sweets.  And MH has discussed this (on his Forum) to some extent and from his own perspective outside the traditional path laid down by the great Mahasiddhas.

The three sweets are classified as: honey, molasses and sugar.  These three forms of food, when researched properly, in a scientific or esoteric way… show that the properties inherent inside are quite abundant with a complete range of minerals that the body does extremely well with in rebuilding the body to function effectively.  Here is a clear indication, from our Master Herbalist, the types of minerals he believes are the best nature has to offer us:

“Maple Syrup is the best, Sorghum is next, unless you could find cane sugar turned to black strap with out making it taste nasty. Fruits are sweet sugars and maple syrup is sweet tree and sorghum is sweet molasses.” — MH


For those that follow MH over the years knows that he favors Sorghum over Black-Strap Molasses.  Yet, I have concluded that Black-Strap Molasses has a distinct advantage over Sorghum; namely having more potassium and magnesium.

Black-Strap Molasses and Maple Syrup could quite well be are missing key to our basic health and survival.

For me, Black-Strap Molasses feels like it has more potency than sorghum. When we look at the science, the nutritional charts prove Black-Strap Molasses has a greater quantity of potassium and magnesium.  Whatever the differences, these two minerals are the basic building blocks necessary for balancing the immense salt problem we have today while diminishing these unstoppable cravings.  On a physical level, it gives us the most nutrients needed for rebuilding and repairing our worn out hair, skin, nails and bones.  On an emotional level, it can help greatly with depression and the cold-disease (of a weak nervous system) that plagues a lot of us in this modern society.

The Experiment:

Recently, I took up to self-experimenting once again.  I still have no interest in fasting or altering my diet in any way.  So, I kept it quite simple.  I started adding a few tablespoons of Maple Syrup each day.  After only two days with this regimen, there were some remarkable results that I only found while fasting and holding to a vegan diet.


While taking two or more tablespoons of Maple Syrup daily, I noticed that the craving for salt was lessened to a considerable extent.  I no longer craved salt as ravenously as I would over the past several years.  Having the knowledge that consuming too much salt causes weight-gain is quite a daunting thing to hear.  And as my research deepened, realizing that excess salt can increase the risk of developing cancer later in life is a shocking thing to discover.  Having this knowledge is good, but not having the will-power to do anything about it is disturbing.  MH, the Master Herbalist, tells us:


So, for me… after building a foundation on taking in natural-minerals solely with Maple Syrup has yielded some amazing benefits.  Whenever a slight craving for some salty-food would kick in, instead of eating a whole bag of chips, I just ate a smaller portion.  Having this basic support of natural-minerals made all the difference.


Having this abundantly within my body, it was easier to move away from addiction.  It was a natural will-power and not something forced.  I was pleased to feel more in control and not having to deny myself any sort of fun – (eating some salty snacks without total abstinence) allowed me to feel content while not having to be stoic and rigid day-by-day.  MH goes on to tell us:

Since our bodies need large quantities of magnesium to help absorb and utilize calcium,  this greatly assists in the development of bone structure & strength.  Comparing the nutritional charts to Maple Syrup, Black-Strap Molasses has a much higher quantity of magnesium.  MH goes on to explain:

We can infer, and I totally believe it to be correct, that the baby would naturally benefit in such a deep way.


I know of a community of Amish that make and raise their children/family on daily SORGHUM and I have seen their teeth and they are all SNOW WHITE. They tell me they have not used tooth brushes for 3 generations, they don’t need to!” — MH

MH further elaborates, “These poor Amish are barefoot, walk in goose /chicken poop everyday, they do not bathe….they do not wash diapers, they shake them out, hang them up and reuse them…in simple words, they are the dirtiest Amish you can find…..YET, their teeth are PERFECT!”

Signs of Health:

So when working on yourself, you just need to pay attention to the proper signs inside and outside of your body.  If you were to embark on a similar journey then by all means take the necessary precautions and responsibility while gathering all the knowledge you can.  We know that MH doesn’t value vitamins as they are a synthetic product.  And if we were to already be doing other herbs, you would have no scientific-control or criteria to determine what is creating the effects in your body.

Therefore, STOP taking all extraneous herbal products and vitamins.  Just try one or two tablespoons of Maple Syrup each morning and night.  See what happens and how you feel.  Try that for a week.  See how that affects your skin, your hair, and teeth.


Then try taking one or two tablespoons of Molasses daily.  Go slow…perhaps your body might only be able to take a teaspoon or half a teaspoon.  Only you know best.  After doing this, you may experience some or all of the following results:

  1. Hair becoming less dry and more rich, losing grey hairs, hair growth
  2. Nails becoming more clear and rosy
  3. teeth stronger, whiter, gums healing
  4. skin clearing up, wrinkles shrinking and scars begin to dissolve
  5. Not feeling so cold, body temperature normalizing
  6. Feeling like one can stand strong as an adult, spinal health, structure stronger
  7. Addiction to salt becoming less and less
  8. Cravings for chocolate diminishing

Trauma Release Exercise

Dr. David Berceli has come up with a siveteransmple way to alleviate the suffering of those who have PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).  He offers a suitable method to induce what is sometimes referred to as “neurogenic tremors” in the human body. 

His technique is called the Tension Release Exercise or Trauma Releasing Exercises or just TRE for short.  It is another excellent way to help re-balance the Autonomic Nervous System and get closer to the root of the problem. 

This method has been used with thousands of soldiers, emergency organizations around the world, areas where natural disasters have occurred, and general populations in war-torn and politically oppressed countries.  It has been taught as a way of addressing PTSD and more programs are being offered in the United States

“Every day, 22 veterans take their own lives.  That’s a suicide every 65 minutes.  As shocking as the number is, it may actually be higher.” — Department of Veterans Affairs

The statistics above were taken from 1999 through 2011 in 21 states.  That’s a staggering 8030 veterans dying each year!  David Berceli has found a method that is helpful for anxiety disorders, PTSD, general stress, and the myriad conditions caused by trauma.  It has also been found to help decrease tremors and seizures in conditions like Parkinson’s, MS, restless leg syndrome, and Epilepsy. 

On a positive note, athletes are also finding it to be great way to speed recovery after workouts.  A common response from most people who do TRE’s is sleeping better and feeling more at peace.  The key to the various benefits of TRE is that it is addressing the core reason for these problems and conditions instead of merely chasing symptoms.

The Theory:

Dr. David Berceli was looking for an easy way to relieve stress and trauma for humanity.  In studying other mammals, he noted that every mammal except for humans has a natural way of relieving tension that is elicited during the fight/flight/freeze response.  He discovered that humans have this capacity as well, only we have used our newer cognitive brain to subdue it.

Dr. Berceli has developed a technique that elicits these neurogenic tremors in the human body quite effectively.  It is said that fear and pain is something encoded in our DNA (if not our subconscious mind) and this method is available for all of us to tap into to find relief.  The results in relieving chronic tension, trauma, and trapped physical and emotional patterns in the body can be amazing when experienced for oneself.


As anyone who has researched this method in the past knows this information has been almost non-existent and kept more or less hidden.  Recently, Rick Stockwell has taken this program a step further and explains the principle behind this unique methodology in a comprehensive way.  He explains that the best way to understand this comes from observing how animals shake their body after a frightening experience.  If we own a dog, cat, or bird it may be easier to see how this behavior in the animal kingdom works.

“What they’re doing is something all mammals (including humans) have ingrained in their system as a way of ‘shaking off’ stress, anxiety, and fear.  Once they are done shaking, the stress is gone from their body.” — Rick Stockwell

He goes on to say,  “I’ll never forget our poor little poodle when we were huddling under an alcove in Utah as a huge clap of thunder rang out and lighting simultaneously struck just outside the alcove.  The poor thing shook for almost 2 hours as my wife comforted her.  But then she was done.  It was out of her system, and she was back to normal.  She didn’t hold onto that traumatic experience for years or decades like humans do.”

With this simple explanation, it seems quite apparent that animals have an innate ability to heal a traumatic experience and remove it completely out of their system without the pain of having a higher brain/mind that constantly stores that information. 

The Method:

There are two known positions that we can gather from the all-too-brief YouTube videos.  The first is lying down with legs butterflied open and the other is standing with your back up against the wall and sinking down slightly.  For some people it may not be wise to do these exercises on your own.  If you already have a severe trauma and are isolated (without a good support-system in place) then it is best to err on the side of caution and refrain from these exercises.  When it is likely that painful things might come up for you; it is best to work with a qualified therapist to help you get through the heavy emotions together.

Of course, the temptation is always there.  Just make sure this is something you can handle all by yourself.  If you are an intermediate or advanced yoga practitioner it probably would be alright to explore this healing modality.  As always, you are likely to gain more intricate understanding when you reach out for help.

Principle: Two opposing forces are in play here to initiate the body tremors.  For instance, when you let your legs go towards the floor (with the natural weight of gravity) and then pull your legs up in the opposite direction, then an automatic shaking begins.  You just have to find the right balance for it to work.

VARIATION ONE: Lay flat on your back.  Have your feet flat on the ground.  Keep your legs and thighs off the ground but at an angle.  Allow gravity take the weight of your legs (towards the floor).  Next, move your legs in the opposite direction ever so slightly.  You should start to feel tremors kick in spontaneously.  This tends to be isolated only within the leg area.

VARIATION TWO: Lay flat on your back.  Have your feet flat on the ground.  Keep your legs and thighs off the ground but at an angle.  First, allow gravity take the weight of your legs.  Second, move your legs in the opposite direction ever so slightly.  This time add a third element.  Press your feet towards the ground with just a slight force.  This has the most amazing affect of spontaneous gyrations resonating throughout your whole upper body and spine as a continuous shaking occurs.

VARIATION THREE: Lay flat on your back.  Have your feet flat on the ground.  Keep your legs and thighs off the ground but at an angle.  Lift your bottom slightly off the ground.  At the same time, allow gravity take the weight of your legs and move your legs up in the opposite direction.  This is done ever so slightly.  You should start to feel tremors kick in spontaneously.  This tends move the lower and upper body side to side.

To get a visual, the first two variations move the body like a dolphin’s tale does – with an up and down motion.  The third variation moves the body, side to side, like a shark or fish naturally does.

Note: Years ago when I was working on this method, I could feel the neural network being formed and strengthened along the spine.  It was interesting to experience the nerves or channels develop from the bottom of the spine upward towards the head.  With all other healing modalities such as standing stake, chi kung or boading-balls… the nervous system would develop from the top of the head down to the base of the spine.

It is quite thrilling once you get the hang of it.  And with some contemplation, you can figure more ways to work the other portions of your body and limbs as well.

Mother’s intuition

Here’s a follow up to an article I posted back in 2011 about a lovely mother who had delivered twins prematurely at 27 weeks.  Kate Ogg delivered fraternal twins.  One boy and one girl.  Unfortunately, the doctor told her the baby boy didn’t make it.

In a world where doctors are just in the beginning stages of learning about the full potential of the human body and mind…it makes us realize how important it is to become fully aware of the process of childbirth and all that it entails.

Now, we can say for sure that a baby and its mother should should never be separated at birth.  And we can learn how important it is of having direct physical contact between the two.   And, of course, communicating loving words can not hurt at all.

Jamie’s story:

For Kate Ogg and her husband David, the arrival of twins finally fulfilled their wishes to have their first child and become new parents. However, after a premature birth the couple was told their first baby would not make it.

It only takes one person to change the world as this beautiful story with a happy ending tells us.  Hopefully, it will cause a few people to reevaluate what we think we really know and learn proper birthing principles.

Mother’s Ultimate Sacrifice

A very touching story to remind us of the heroic choice this woman made…

A young California mother made the ultimate sacrifice for her newborn daughter when she refused lifesaving treatment for bone cancer.   Ashley Bridges was 10 weeks pregnant when she learned of her diagnosis.  Although doctors recommended she start chemotherapy immediately, it would have required her to terminate her pregnancy.

“There’s no way I could kill a healthy baby because I’m sick,” Bridges told CBS’s Kristine Lazar.  During her third trimester, at eight months, Bridges was told that delaying treatment had allowed the cancer to spread.

“That’s basically when they told me that it was terminal,” she said.  Bridges was told she needed to deliver Paisley immediately so she could start treatment.  Even with multiple rounds of chemotherapy, she was given less than a year to live.  “I felt like I tried so hard to keep Paisley safe and do the minimum [treatment] to keep her healthy.  The thought that I’m not going to see her grow up is really hard,” a tearful Bridges said.

The 24-year-old Bridges also has a 6-year-old son from a previous relationship.  “His exact words were, ‘If you pass away, I want to come with you,’ ” she recalled.  As Lazar reports, friends and family have been helping Bridges take care of Paisley during the day.  Her fiance, who is in the military, takes the night shift.  None of them has second-guessed her decision.  “She’s a real-life superhero, to be honest with you,” said Jessica, Bridges’ sister.  Bridges, too, has no regrets.  “Maybe I’m not supposed to be here and she is,” Bridges said of Paisley.

The Barefoot Way

To all the Barefooters,

I created a forum for the more scholarly type.  If you are interested in a more personal and private community then feel free to check it out.  MH granted his approval and hopefully we can continue to help those that are sick and suffering.


I think a few good people on here know that we need to save the valuable information that MH has been posting here over the years.  Once it is lost then the next generations will definitely lose out.

For personal users, this forum will be organized into two sections: GROUPS and ACHIEVEMENT LADDER.  This should inspire people to participate more and keep things in a positive and motivated mindset.


Those that have completed an OJ-type Fast will be grouped together into clubs such as: a 7 Day Club, 14 Day Club, 21 Day Club or 40 Day Club respectively.  That may be of sincere interest to some people that want more privileges.  In order to be approved, you just have to show that you completed the respective number of days on the Orange Juice fast. 

Just post your gains/results in the Introductions or Testimonials section.  Provisionally, each club will have advanced permissions such as edit posts or upload files.  This is certainly NOT a justification to compete with others.

Fasting, without being educated properly, will just result in harming yourself.  These clubs are really just a way to have a sense of community here.  When we recognize and TRUST each other it will be a lot easier to feel safe in a supportive environment.

Charlotte’s web

While watching TV the other night there was a special on medical marijuana to treat children with epilepsy.  Epilepsy is not a new disease.  The oldest known detailed record was discovered over 3000 years ago.  It’s a fact that the disorder itself was found in Babylonian cuneiform medical text from 1067–1046 BCE.   So, I wondered if this news program was a way to engender sympathy to get the laws changed in more states much sooner.

We normally think of Charlotte’s Web as a classic piece of children’s fiction, but it is also the name of one of the most coveted medical marijuana strains that is being used to treat children with epilepsy.

Charlotte’s Web is now a strain of medical marijuana processed into a marijuana extract that is high in cannabidiol (CBD) content.  It is sometimes referred to as Realm Oil or Alepsia.  The good part about it is that it does not induce the “psychoactive high” typically associated with recreational marijuana use.

Medical solution:

As Charlotte was young and developing with her twin sister; everything seemed normal.  She was talking and walking the same day as her twin.  Charlotte was 3 months old when she first began having seizures.  As time went on, her condition grew worse.  According to the CNN article:

“The medications were also taking a toll.  She was on seven drugs — some of them heavy-duty, addictive ones such as barbiturates and benzodiazepines.”

As we know, it is common when following medical that there are often serious side-effects with their drugs.  Figis tells us that, “They’d work for a while, but the seizures always came back with a vengeance.”

Alternative medical:

Charlotte got off the medical prescription in favor of an alternative treatment.  She received medical marijuana and these were the results:

According to Paige Figi, her daughter Charlotte seizures fell from 300 a week to around 3 over an 8 month period.

Charlotte is now six years old and living better.  Her seizures only happen two to three times per month, almost solely in her sleep.  Not only is she walking, she is riding her bicycle.  She feeds herself and is talking more each day.  From a certain point of view, this seems wonderful and a successful case.

But, is that good enough?

Knowing that she has two or three seizures a month tells me that it was only a partial solution.  Of course, it yields much better results than taking barbiturates.  Parents need to know the root cause of disease and then treat their child holistically.  It must occur on many levels, which means, diet change as well as regenerating the nerves of the physical body and brain.  Regenerating the nerves is the sole province of yoga, tai-chi, Feldenkrais Therapy and other healing modalities.

Holistic treatment:

I quickly googled Dr. Christopher to see what he would have done back in the day.  Dr. Chistopher talks about his experience in discovering the anti-spasmadic formula to help his epileptic patients:

One night I sat alone in my office, after all my patients had left for the day, wondering why I was not getting the results with this boy as I had with others with the same condition.  I realized that I needed “help” and so I prayed earnestly that something could be done for this child and after some time of praying and meditating an “idea” for a “formula” of herbs for nerves came to my mind.

“I quickly wrote down: blue cohosh, black cohosh, blue vervain, scullcap, and lobelia in a 90 proof tincture.  I immediately went to the lab we had out in back of the office, and made up the tincture.  When this formula was given to the epileptic boy patient, there was an immediate reaction, and before long, he showed great improvement.” — Dr. Christopher

MH information:

Then I did some research on what MH had posted many years ago on his forum.

“Epilepsy in my experience is caused by drugs such as are found in mountain dew, Dialantin, etc. and of course damage to the head.” — MH

MH believes that Lobelia would not be an aid, but that lobelia always works best when used in a herbal formula.  With the symptom of seizures we need to find the root cause and then a solution may be found.  He suggests that epilepsy is a drug induced disease and not a natural thing.

“The stupid MD then puts the child on dilantin to stop future seizures which also ensures the child is addicted for life and can’t easily ever get off the drug, because the drug will cause anyone to have seizures if they take it and then try to get off it.  At least that was the way it was 20 years ago when I knew of a person in the same situation and the side effects are terrible, etc.” — MH

He advices that Lecithin would be great idea in healing the brain.  Of course olive oil or coconut oil work on the same principle.   He suggests that B&B herbal formula, NO DENTAL METALS of any kind, no vitamins or other metalic sources.  And of course we should all make pure water that is home made distilled.

“Often a child will roll out of bed and hit their head and have a seizure or actually had a seizure in bed and ended up on the floor hitting their head, etc….” — MH

MH strictly advices that, “The drugs have to go!  Nothing much will change as long as the person is doped.  Up until the drugs go, naturally all the correct foods/no toxins would allow the body to heal as much as possible.  The main problem is always the person is scared to death to ever get drug free and work to correct the problem.  If they drink pop, drink sugar free, etc. there is probably no helping them.”


Dr. Christopher received an Herbal Pharmacist degree under the renowned Dr. Edward Shook.  Dr. Shook related a case wherein a young girl was brought to him with a longstanding case of epilepsy.  She had suffered various injuries during her attacks.  Shook made a strong decoction of Black Cohosh, blue gentian and valerian root, expecting immediate results, but the seizures continued.

“Shook then consulted an old herbalist, who informed him that only alcohol could extract the antispasmodic values from Black Cohosh.  The parents tried the tincture, given here, and the seizures gradually decreased from up to thirty in one day to nearly none after six months.”

I believe that alcohol was the factor that helped move the herbs quickly into the lymphatic system in order to cross the blood-brain barrier to reach proper areas of the brain.  The old formula was called B&B Tincture back in the day.   So now you can choose what to do based on the above facts rather than being in the dark about what consists of real and authentic health for our precious children.

Neurological rehabilitation

With my father recently being diagnosed with early-onset dementia, it has been a trying experience for our family.  It literally was a test of wills in trying to get quality care.  With many individuals in the alternative health-care field not returning our phone calls and emails it was like pulling teeth to find someone compassionate and understanding enough to work with us in this difficult situation. 

After a year of being unable to persuade my father to try an alternative method of healing it became apparent that he was having trouble speaking logically and unable to have a coherent conversation when it came to handling money issues.  My main wish was for him to heal and grow in a positive direction no matter what the outcome was.  I would rather move forward with hope than succumbing to medical’s pessimistic attitude that there is “no known cure”.

As we got more and more concerned, I finally looked at all the medication he was taking.  It was not surprising to find that each one had a particular side affect that caused memory loss.   My research came up as follows:

  • ASPIRIN – Causes an increased risk of cerebral micro-bleeding showing on MRI Scans of 5 to 10 mm or smaller.
  • HEART MEDICATION – Each one leads to memory loss as a side-effect.
  • NEUROLOGICAL MEDICATION – Also results in memory loss.


Dementia is basically a neurological disorder, with various degrees of severity.  It is not a specific disease itself as it is more related to a symptom of reduced or impaired cognition.  The person who has been diagnosed with dementia may have trouble in areas related to memory, attention-span, language, and problem solving.  More specific forms of dementia are Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease to name a few of the 50 forms that are categorized.  It is important to understand that:

Alzheimer’s disease is characterized by loss of neurons and synapses in the cerebral cortex and certain subcortical regions.

When we know exactly what the disease is then we can gather all the facts and utilize the proper biological principles of health to get to the root cause of the problem.  Due to the various conditions that impede our progress, such as a poor diet and environmental toxins it sure is an uphill battle.  However, even if we cannot achieve a full cure and complete recovery we can still alleviate our loved ones suffering to some degree.  As this anthropologist says about the Feldenkrais method:

“This is the most sophisticated and effective method I have seen for the prevention and reversal of deterioration of function.  We’re condemning millions of people to a deteriorated old age that’s not necessary.” — Margaret Mead PhD.

At the very least, we can improve the lives of a few people that are currently in nursing homes suffering from pain, agitation or boredom by being in a semi-vegetative state.

Current information:

I was fortunate enough to come across Joyce Ann’s website after weeks of research.  Each day I spent hours researching the web for a suitable healer for my father.  As many alternative healers doubted the principles of rebuilding new neural patterns I set about to find substantial science to back this up.  It wasn’t an easy task.  It was quite exasperating to note that chiropractics and even a few Feldenkrais healers were skeptical.

Therefore, I offer this information to others going through the same situation with their parents that would like to have a suitable path to travel on.  By doing so, hopefully we can make it easier for the next generation to be “armed” with the proper facts and knowledge when it is time to show doctors and family members what the real potential is for recovering from this terrible disease.

I contacted Joyce Ann and she was the first person who was friendly and helpful enough to understand what we were going through.  She even gave me permission to convert her original article to a .PDF file and share it with others without my asking.  With this change, I believe that it is now a more enjoyable read and a lot easier to see when printed out.

She wrote an article in the Alzheimer’s Care Quarterly 2006 Oct-Dec; 7(4): 278-86. which is a peer reviewed magazine that holds a lot of weight within the medical community.  It is called “Individuals With Dementia Learn New Habits and Empowered Through the Feldenkrais Method”. 

You can read her article that depicts six case studies that have shown positive results after just one session.  She seems to be the first healer (in her field) to report positive progress with her geriatric patients.  As you read the information you can see that her patients were able to overcome various limitations with dementia that ranged from Stroke to Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.  They were advanced cases of men and women in their late 70s and 90s that showed improvement in their functional level in relation to procedural memory and awareness of surroundings etc.

Feldenkrais method:

The principle of Feldenkrais is simple stated as: Awareness through Movement.  What this means is that with simple movement lessons, our awareness and perception can be increased, improved, and refined.  Since the way we move (in our day to day lives) consists mostly of unconscious actions, these habitual patterns can be seen for what they are, followed by a release of any holding patterns to form more functional ways to moving.

Normally, our habitual tendencies while sitting, eating and walking are not optimal and can be greatly reorganized.  Once improvement has been achieved, then when we want to excel in sport or dance there will be more joy and freedom in the body.  When this happens then all our activities become more effortless and extremely efficient.

Shockingly, I had found that some Feldenkrais healers weren’t fully up to date that movement therapy can be a significant benefit to geriatric patients for increasing their memory and spatial awareness.  Currently, this therapy has been wonderful in helping those suffering from pain and trauma.  Yet there is more that can be done for those undergoing memory and speech problems.  As more and more practitioners add their knowledge and experience, there will be a greater shift in awareness of what the full potential this healing modality has to offer.

The current trend is to help children who are autistic or handicapped with muscular dystrophy.  One common therapy is to have these children ride a horse on a weekly basis.

Since the child has to consciously adjust themselves to remain on the horse it literally trains them to have better motor skills and balance.  This really is the principle of movement therapy that Moshe Feldenkrais had discovered long ago.

When it comes to old people receiving help, it should be the same principle.  Since the current consensus is that it is impossible for new neurons to grow in the brain it is frustrating when our loved are suffering without a suitable remedy.  It is certainly understandable that most people would be skeptical that a movement therapy can connect and repair the damaged synapse in the brain.

Yet, there are so many people who are suffering all over the world who are mostly ignored or go unnoticed while we enjoy our lives.  To make a positive difference in this world, then we need to increase the range of this healing modality and identify a third layer to this healing.  Since this Feldenkrais principle holds true for autistic children, then it must follow that it would help older people who are suffering with dementia.  The three layers could be categorized as follows.

Feldenkrais Layers of Healing:

  1. pain and inflexibility
  2. accidents, sports injury or birth trauma
  3. memory loss in old age

As Dr. Weil says, “I have been intrigued by this subtle form of retraining the nervous system, which I recommend to patients whose movement has been restricted by injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, fibromyalgia, or chronic pain.”  He goes on to say:

“I find it to be much more useful than standard physical therapy.  I also believe that the Feldenkrais Method® can help older people achieve greater range of motion and flexibility, and help all of us feel more comfortable in our bodies.” — Andrew Weil, M.D.


During most of the 20th century, the general consensus among neuroscientists was that the brain structures become fixed and cannot change past early childhood.  This has been the popular belief among the masses as well as alternative healers who respect science over healing principles and personal experience.  As Neil Sharp M.D. explains,

Indeed it was only in 1999 that the Nobel Laureate Torsten Wiesel admitted in print that he and David Hubel had been wrong in declaring that neuroplasticity is impossible beyond the critical period of infancy.”

This admission has helped pave the way for the knowledge that Anat Baniel and her teacher Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais have accrued through their experience over decades of transforming the lives of children and adults whom conventional medicine had believed were beyond help or recovery.

Principle of neuroplasticity:

Decades of research done by thousands of neuroscientists has shown that the brain can change itself.   The brains of infants and children are extremely changeable needing to form all the brain patterns associated with voluntary action.  Their brains are constantly expanding and mapping new territory.  The science of brain plasticity shows how, under the right conditions, the adult brain can also restructure itself in remarkable ways.  Even the birth of new brain cells can occur in adults, as well as children!

NOTE: The “birth of new brain cells” could be further researched and analyzed later on.  We could infer this to mean growing new stem cells – which is a hot topic in itself.  Anyway, we have two choices available to us.  We can either rely on the principles of movement therapy or wait until science has it all figured out.  Since functional integration healers are currently improving the quality of lives then there really is no need to wait and do nothing.  The honorable and compassionate thing to do is to try our best to alleviate our loved ones pain and suffering.

Diet aide:

After doing further research I discovered some people were able to get off their medication and utilize Coconut Oil in their daily life.  It has been found to be very helpful in protecting the brain with the appropriate, healthy fats.  In reality, there is no difference in whether one uses olive oil or coconut oil.  It’s just the current research has been with coconut oil to improve the ketones in our body.

We finally did find someone compassionate enough to work with my father.  I was extremely fortunate enough to sit in with my father on his first Feldenkrais session.  Even though he couldn’t differentiate any changes taking place I could discern at least ten major energetic-releases of various holding patterns.

When sitting in the chair, I noticed myself able to relax some bodily tension as my father released his own physical and energetic blocks.  This lead me to believe that every family member should participate together in order to achieve a basic harmony so badly needed within the modern family.
